Wear a denim jacket the dressy way

Hello, it’s me Bad to the Blonde. Adding denim to an outfit is like a cork to a wine bottle. It just fits. (Okay, so I’m not the best at analogies.) For a woman with what I like to call a “biker chickish” fashion sense, of course, my go-to way to wear a denim jacket is casually with a tee underneath and faux leather. However, wear a day job requires dressing up a denim jacket with a dress. And I happen to do this at least once a week. Because it’s easy. Better yet, it’s the perfect Friday workout to happy hour outfit. Here is how to wear it the denim jacket the dressy way. After all, I’m a biker chick.

Dress it up

Dress it up with a different texture. If your denim jacket is a custom piece or embellished with studs, pearls, destruction or artwork, go with a faux leather mini dress. A printed dress is great for wearing with a classic denim trucker jacket. Style a long dress with a denim vest. Style a mini dress or midi dress with a denim jacket. Balance out the two silhouettes by complementing each of them with a contrasting body shape and a different length. For example wear a short dress with denim jacket. Wear a long dress with  denim vest. Long with short. And short with long. Show a little skin and a lot of attitude. Denim is just badass.

Shoes

I always try to match my shoes to my shirt. However, I am not wearing a shirt in this style blog – I am wearing a dress. So dress it up with shoes to match! Go bold with a bright bootie that’s edgy and unexpected. Complete the dress and shoe combo before adding the jacket. The jacket doesn’t need to match anything. Throw it on and go! The Brittany and Justin denim date happened over 15 years ago. Don’t double the denim.
