How to wear the tomboy fall plaid trend

Hello, it’s me Bad to the Blonde. This season’s fall trend is for the tomboys. Or, at least, will make you fashionable if you are a tomboy, and that’s why I love it. Plaid fall outfits are masculine, tailored and badass.  I remember having a black men’s suit vest in high school from Maurices and feeling like one of the boys. Shoutout the girl who recently bought it  from me on Poshmark. I’ve had it for years and constantly passed it up in my closet sayin, “I’ll wear it again”. Because of that, this trend really caught my eye. I connect with it. Traditional tartan plaid, and black and white houndstooth prints are bold, statement pieces that are really easy to wear.

Menswear history lesson

Julia Roberts and Coco Chanel loved menswear. Roberts wore the trend to the 1990 Grammys. A suit to be exact. Chanel took many of her inspirations and designs from menswear tailored fashion and made them feminine. Surprisingly women have been doing this for years. Tomboys and girly-girls alike find this fashion fun and inspiring. Exciting! It’s really art if you think about it  – all the prints, colors, textures and fabrics. Wearing it just brings the message to life. The best part, there is no rule. Throw the rulebook out the window. (Story of my life.)  How you wear it, is up to you. We are strong women.

Color Clashing

Mixing prints is easy with this fall’s plaid print. Coupled with feminine floral, this outfit will prove to you how badass and fashion forward it is to clash some colors. You’ll turn some heads. Send the compliments. The key is keep one part of the outfit a neutral. Invest in a houndstooth, plaid check or traditional tartan top or pant and literally have some fun. One piece of the trend is all you need to create some stylish looks. Mix and match it up. Without a doubt my favorite pant this season is the trouser pant – in a high rise. It’s extremely versatile.

P.S. I was at the Camby Hotel Marriott in Phoenix like I was there for a business meeting. However, I was just there for the wine and decor.

Go bold, boss babe.
