Hello, it’s me Bad to the Blonde. Out with the old sweaters…in with the bold sweaters. The search is still on for the pot o’ gold but I found the Led Zeppelin of 70s style, and had to cave in and add a rainbow stripe sweater to my winter wardrobe. I pull it out with skies are blue, for real. Whenever I am in need an attitude adjustment or need to make it through Monday – this seems to be the perfect way to get after it. I’m a firm believer in what you wear will effect how you feel. Surprisingly, I have never been of fan of the color-way – it’s like too much going on to wear at once – but it’s a really easy way to brighten any day. It’s quite a fun trend! No shadow will steal your brightness.
Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.
Sweater Weather
Sweater weather is everything but boring this season with rainbow stripes trending bright. A little bit of a rainbow; a whole lot of gold. From bell bottoms to fun fabrics – I love retro fashion trends and it’s my go-to style lately. Even though I’m an 80s baby and people still call me “young” at 32, dressing in different decades has a way of bringing me back into time – and I’m feeling it! Every girl remembers Rainbow Brite and the fictional character came about shortly before I was born in 1985. In the second generation, I think the Rainbow Brite Starlite Horse became more important. Oh, that colorful tail. I remember that horse more as a child than the actual girl. Starlite is Rainbow Brite’s main source of transportation, galloping on his magical rainbow and taking care of her like a good friend does. I often feel like that horse.
Take that magical rainbow straight into Spring. It will get you through those cold and unmotivated, perhaps gloomy days. It’s truly a fun, childish fashionable piece to have in your closet. Rainbow stripes will brighten even your darkest days or radiate your happiest. I just feel a little pep-in-my-step when I wear this – it also seems to make other people instantly happy.
Feelin’ like a kid again
I’ll never forget my “What Makes a Double Rainbow” science project and my Mama’s idea to set out a pot of Rolo’s (for gold). When everyone else did the pop bottle tornado project – we had real 4×6 photos to illustrate. I remember being quite proud – I thought we were quite creative. Every time I put on this rainbow stripe sweater outfit it brings me back to that trim-fold poster board project in elementary school. If your kid needs an idea, that’s a great one. Look it up! Everyone finds beauty and joy in the colors of a rainbow.
