Favorite fall outfits from the Dillard’s runway

Hello, it’s me Bad to the Blonde. The most stylish Phoenix bloggers shared their fashion tips and tricks, and took a walk down the runway to practice what they post. You didn’t need to go to New York Fashion week to warm up for winter. These fashion staples from Dillard’s are worth the splurge. I had the vision a few months ago to create a blogger fashion show. My experience in fashion comes from years working as a commercial model, yes, actually getting paid to model through agency representation, but I was never tall or skinny enough to model for runway. The first Victoria’s Secret was in 1995 and almost 25 years later, as much as I love Giselle, I cannot wear what she is (and I’m not even a mom), so Leslie Wexner we really need to talk. Apparently, they are moving ahead with a new event concept and I should be the host.

Fast to fashion

My last career goal as the fashion communications director for Dillard’s was also the first goal for my role as Head Blonde in Charge of Bad to the Blonde. To say it short and sweet, to be a voice I needed to leave the boys. For 10 years, I was a motorsports reporter covering racing events trackside across the country. My resume includes event and television broadcasting from flat track, to arenacross and Supercross, and off-road racing. Surviving Sturgis seven times, reporting at the only U.S. Superprestigio to date, to shows airing on MavTV, SpeedTV, Fox Sports North and CBS Sports paint the much bigger picture. I also hosted videos as an on-camera talent and covered events like SEMA in the automotive world. I stood on the floor holding a mic in stadiums and arenas that hold tens of thousands of people but never on a runway.

The glass shoe

I rarely got to dress like a woman and moto boots became my style signature. Literally, can’t tell you how many times I was given a men’s polo shirt and was told that I can’t wear my own clothes. Now female broadcasters are style symbols and dressed to the nines. This style blog was just the beginning, and the end, of a “nine to five”. I had a decade of on-camera experience and not even a year behind a desk, but I landed my first full-time job in fashion. As the fashion communications director for Dillard’s, my job included hosting fashion trend videos and TV style segments. Then I created a successful blogger meet-up event with 28 bloggers in El Paso. There was still one goal left to achieve and the experience would be needed in the future. I had not yet achieved was to host a fashion show nor was “blogger fashion show” popping up in a Google search.

Everyday is a fashion show

Producing and hosting a fashion show is now on my resume thanks to Dillard’s Chandler Fashion Center. Exclusive invitations were sent to the best Phoenix bloggers, and I personally met each individual blogger for a fitting appointment to style two looks – a day/casual and night/holiday. Producing the event included a professional runway setup, changing area and DJ. I have hosted and reported events for a decade but nothing like this. Each blogger represented their brand in true fashion. For style bloggers, everyday is a fashion show and the world is a runway. The Phoenix Bloggers Fashion Show is the start of changing the stigma in style. Mic drop.
