Hello, it’s me Bad to the Blonde. To hold the key to someone’s heart is something special, so is the feeling of holding a shopping bag or the package when it arrives with your Valentine’s Day heart sweater. Affection is certainly not my strongest trait, nor is physical touch my love language, but I have a courtship with style. Keep scrolling.
Heart to heart
Even if you hate the Hallmark Holiday, it’s still sweater weather! It’s easy to be smitten for a soft sweater and to fall in love with a heart pattern. Stressed and distressed was so last season so that destructed heart sweater all over Instagram that you wanted, will be hard to get now, but here is the good news! It’s time to embrace cleaner denim and soft chenille with a more modern appeal.
Love your butt
As a shoe addict, I love to show off a trendy pointy toe boot with a shorter length jean. (Style tip – you’ll look taller!) The Levi’s Ridcage flare is a fun pair of jeans with its ultra high rise fit and straight leg cropped at the ankle. Stretchy jeans tend to get baggy in the butt and thanks to big thighs and a small waist – I am constantly pulling them up! Other jeans besides the skinny deserve some love this February. Rigid denim has a higher quality look and feel that’s made to keep the shape from the hip on down. I love my butt so much in these jeans, you can’t pay me to wear those heart shaped leggings.
Accessorize your heart out
My casual and cute Valentine’s Day outfit is a combination of red, white…and blue. If you’re not getting any jewelry, red is as good as gold. White western booties will get you in that lovin’ feelin’. And what girl doesn’t have a fondness for cropped blue jeans and flashback accessories.
Not only are the 70s influencing the latest denim fits but chain belts are back as a charming classic. Styling your go-to blues with heart and circle shapes may seem elementary, but they represent love, energy and power with plenty of femininity. Give yourself the gift of the darling circle metal belt for under $20! Worn at the top of the hips, it completes the look clipped to the side loop with the leftover hanging down in front. Hey honey, some trends don’t have a beginning and an end.
Bishop Arts District
If you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s Day date idea, even if you’re single or planning a Galentine’s Day with your girls, cupid is calling from your closet to take you on a fashion-forward walk to see wall art. The Bishop Arts District in Dallas has good grub, wall art and wine! (Don’t forget your red sunglasses for this date day idea!) I highly suggest Tacos y Vino for fried avocado and a frescamosas. Walking makes the heart happy and healthy, and it’s free! I have been known to walk around whole cities, like Stockholm and Miami, over the course of a weekend looking for Instagram photo spots like this one.
Hugs, thanks for letting me be your style crush.
